✅ You can freely specify an area and calculate the volume of that area. You can also easily check the progress of the earthwork against the planned elevation. This feature saves over 90% of the time and cost compared to traditional on-site earthwork volume calculation methods.
▎Add area
① Clicking the Add New button will give you the option toadd an area, and you can also use the area icon on the right to create an area. You can use the New Folder feature to create a folder to manage your areas.
② Add vertices with the left mouse button, and press right-click or ESC to finish building the area. You can add vertices as many times as you like until you are finished.
- You need at least three points to create an area.
- To get an accurate area, we recommend drawing slightly wider than the desired area.
▎Modify area
① Click the name of the created area to switch to a screen where you can edit the area.
② Entering a coordinate value for a created vertex will move that vertex.
③ Dragging a created vertex will move it.
④ You can add vertices by clicking the + button on each side.
⑤ Once you've made all of your edits, click the Done button at the bottom to save your changes.
▎Check area information
① You can enter or edit the name and description of the area, and view the author and date of creation.
② You can change it to any colour by clicking on the colour.
③ You can see how wide the area is.
④ You can see each vertex's coordinate system, coordinate value, and area perimeter length, and when you change the coordinate value, the vertex moves to that location.
⑤ You can delete an area by tapping the trash can icon.
⑥ You can click the checkbox to show or hide the area on the screen.
▎Calculating volume
This is the process of calculating the volume of the area you created.
① Select how you want to calculate the volume.
② Click the Calculate button.
③ Once the calculation is complete, the cut soil for the area is calculated and you can see the volume.
How volume is calculated | |
| Triangular split | Calculate the amount of cut/fill by creating triangular faces inside the area based on the vertex-specific Z-values. This is the default calculation method. |
| Enter height | Calculates the amount of cut/fill based on the height (m) value entered. |
| Comparison date | Calculate the amount of cut/fill by comparing the site conditions on a baseline date and another date. |
| Plan height | Calculates the amount of cut/fill compared to the uploaded plan elevation. Please contact us to upload and create a plan. |
▎Managing area tool data integration
① The Manage Integrations button will take you to the Manage area integrations tab.
② Click the Select button to delete areas in bulk.
③ Enabling the slide button adds it to the Area menu while disabling it removes it from the Area menu.
④ Areas created on the base date are automatically unlinked on other dates.
